An Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ court on Wednesday sentenced, a 35-year-old woman, Nafisat Raji, to six month imprisonment for stealing an HP laptop valued at N45, 000.
The prosecutor, Insp. Oladoye Joshua, told the court that the convict committed the offence on Aug. 8, at about 12:30pm on Fayemi street, in Osogbo.
According to the prosecutor, Nafisat burgled into the house of One Akindele Deborah and stole the sum of N14,500.
”The accused also stole One HP Pavilion Laptop valued N45,000 from One Olaboopo Mubarak.”
The defense counsel, Barrister Okobe, Najite pleaded with the court to be merciful and temper justice with mercy, saying, ‘’she has pleaded guilty and crying since she realized her mistakes.”
Joshua said the offence contravened sections 390 (9) and is punishable under section 383 and 412 of the Criminal Code cap 34 vol.11 Laws of Osun, 2003.
The presiding magistrate, Mrs Adejumoke Olowolagba, ordered that the accused person is hereby sentenced to six-months imprisonment or pay a fine of N3,000 for substitution.
