It has been reported that a Nigerian police officer, identified as Donatus Oyibe, attached to the Ebonyi State police command as committed suicide at Ukwuakpu axis of Abakaliki.
According to report, Oyibe, a native of Ndiagu Ishieke in Ebonyi Local government area of the state was said to have jumped inside a deep well on Sunday night when he went to fetch water. His family revealed that his death was in connection with his recent transfer to Borno state, after his posting letter was released on the 28th of August.
Speaking on the sad incident, the deceased daughter, named Ukamaka disclosed that her late father took a bucket to fetch water from the well but when she dint see him come back after several hours, she got suspicious and worried and went in search of him.
Disclosing that when they reached the well, only the bucket was seen and when they looked inside the well, they shockingly discovered that he was inside and had died. In her words she said;
“My father took a bucket that he was going to fetch water from our well on Sunday night but could not come back after some time that created suspicion and we started looking for him.
“I went to the well and saw his bucket. When I looked inside the well, I discovered that he has died”, she added.
Confirming the report, the Police spokesperson, Loveth Ogah said she was not aware of the development at press time but promised to speak on the development when confirmed.
