5 Types Of Scars And 5 Home Remedy For Scar Removal

As we know that having Scars as a result of changes that alter the physical architecture of normal skin or other tissue, can be very worrisome for many people, as they usually find it embarrassing and sometimes as a reminder of their traumatic experiences.
Thus, they usually seek for different ways to have the scars removed especially those born into the families where they give family members tribal marks at much younger age and have had to deal with it’s embarassing complements when they grow up.
Though we have various scar removal methods people are oblivious of, we will only be looking at 5 in today’s article, but before we take a look at this 5 ways to remove scars, lets quickly see the different types of scars that we have below.

Types of scars
We have 5 common types of Scars that are simply the areas of the skin or fibrous tissue that appear after injury or the process of wound repair.

1. Hypertrophic scar
This is the scar that you have when the body over-expresses collagen that is usually raised above the surrounding skin and red or pink in color. It’s hard, itchy and ususally caused by wound infection or skin injuries.

2. Keloid scar
These scars are very similar to hypertrophic scars but can be differentiated from hypertrophic scars by their lack of growth outside the original wound area and are commonly caused by surgery, accident, skin burns, chicken pox, acne or, sometimes, body piercings.

3. Acne scars
These are scars that look like deep pits or angular waves that can penetrate the skin and cause damage to the skin and the deep tissues. Not that popping or squeezing acne might worsen the scar.

4. Contracture scars
These are scars that occur as a result of a burn on the skin that tighten the skin, possibly impairing the
ability to move that area. These types of scars can go penetrate deep in the skin, affecting muscles and nerves, and can be really bad for burn victims.

5. Atrophic scars
These scars are caused when the structures supporting the skin, such as fat or muscle begin to atrophy or disappear. This type of scarring is said to be caused by acne, chickenpox, Staphylococcus infection surgery, some particular insect and spider bites, or accidents or genetic skin disorder, called Ehlers–Danlos syndrome.

As earlier mentioned there are many scar removal techniques, we will only be looking at 5 ways to remove scars naturally, through home made remedies considering that scar removal surgeries are very costly for many Nigerians that have sought for scar removal creams and others that have opted for scar removal surgeries or laser treatment.
Below are the 5 natural methods and home remedies for scar removal

1. Coconut Oil
Using coconut oil is a very good way to remove scars naturally, as it is very rich in omega-3 fatty acids and
antioxidants that inhibits scar formation, and speeds up wound repair. Also, coconut oil contains lauric, caprylic and capric acids that increases collagen production.

Usage:
Place the coconut oil on your palms and rub on the affected area on your skin while leaving it for hours so the skin can absorb the oil. You can repeat this procedure 3 times a day.

2. Aloe Vera
This is the ultimate natural remedy for the skin that helps to treat scarring naturally because it is a natural emollient that repairs damaged skin and gives a healthy, radiant skin.

Usage:
a. Peel off the outer covering of the aloe vera plant.
b. Then carry out the natural gel and rub it on the scarred area.
c. Repeat the procedure twice daily.

3. Shea butter
Shea butter has many health benefits to the skin many don’t know of, but the one we will focus on today is that of it’s scar removal. Note that for best result it is advisable to apply shea butter immediately afterthe wound, so as to keep it moist and prevent itching.

Usage:
a. Apply shea butter on the scarred spot and leave it overnight.
b. Do this daily until the scar is removed.

4. Lemon
Are you aware you can use lemon to treat all types of scars?
Lemon is very rich in alpha hydroxy acids, which have healing properties. that destroy dead skin cells, promote the production of new skin cells and enhance skin elasticity. It also contains antioxidants like vitamin C, that aids the regeneration and repair of damaged skin. Also the bleaching property of lemon helps lighten scars.

Usage:
a. Rub the lemon juice extract on your skin
b. Then rinse off after 10-15 minutes.
Note: If you have a sensitive skin, dilute the lemon in vitamin E oil (which is another great home remedy for scar removal and do not step out after doing this as lemon makes the skin photosensitive.

5. Honey
Honey is another excellent natural remedy that is an extremely good skin moisturizer that prevents the
accumulation of dead skin cells, by destroying them and stimulating growth of new skin tissue

Usage:
a. Apply some honey on the scar and cover with a bandage before going to bed.
b. Wash off the next morning with warm water and do this daily before going to bed.
