Antibacterial soaps are meant to fight germs, however, they are packed with harmful chemicals which may cause diseases, including breast cancer. There was a research which discovered that triclosan included in antibacterial soaps is a dangerous chemical which supports cancers cells to be dominant. This research was done at the National University and the Korea Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology discovering the effects of these harmful chemicals on the hormonal system. It showed that it is actually a hormone disruptor which imitates estrogen and has detrimental adverse effects on the production and function of the hormones such as testosterone. It was discovered that triclosan can cause breast cancer because it negatively affects the endocrine system that leads to abdominal cellular formation. This was tested on animals and it was found out that EDCs were high in its exposure daily, and on the long-term. Octyl phenol was found to be another antibacterial ingredient that causes abdominal cellular growth. When these ingredients are combined they build up abdominal cell growth.

Other studies have made a connection between triclcarban and triclosan to many health conditions and ailments like antibiotic and bacteria resistance, skin irritation, endocrine disruption, etc.
