A 16-year-old boy named Onyedikachi Iyaka from Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo state, was paraded by the state’s Police Command for gun running, possession of weapons and other police kits yesterday.
According to report, exhibits recovered from the teenager includes 400 rounds of chained GPMG live ammunition, 1,016 rounds of AK47 live ammunition, one AK 47 empty magazine, one K2 empty magazine, one army camouflage bullet proof vest, one police bullet proof vest, one blue police raincoat, one green beret cap and one empty ammunition.
Confirming the arrest, the State’s Police Commissioner, Chris Ezike who was visibly shocked the size of exhibits recovered from the teenager, dosclosed that recovered weapons could shoot down an helicopter.
During interrogation the teenager who spoke to newsmen, while admitting that he sells ammunition until the police caught him, disclosed that the crime business originally belong to his elder brother whom he identified as Jeff Iyaka, now at large.
“I am not the owner of the business, it belongs to my brother, Jeff Iyaka. I sell each packet of ammunition N7,000.” He confessed.
