A 31-year-old man, identified as Chibuike Okoroafor, who reportedly kidnapped 10 people in Imo and Anambra States, to raise money for the funeral of his late father and uncle has been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command in Imo state.
According to report, Chibuike who was arrested alongside two other members of his gang, named Azubuike Nwachukwu, 41, and Ikechukwu Emeka Chima, 30, on the 10th of August’s first abductees were 30-year-old Chigozie Ekwegbara and his two sisters, who were in Anambra State, but whisked away in Chigozie’s Toyota Highlander SUV, and held for five days in Imo State, until their family paid a ransom of N2 million.
Confirming the arrest the, SARS Commander, Supol Sunday Ikpe , who spoke to newsmen said his team is still trying to recover the SUV, the gang collected from the victims and sold in Aba to a car snatching syndicate.
The suspect, Chibuike who further revealed during interrogation that he was wearing Chigozie’s gold chain when he was arrested, said;
“I have kidnapped over 10 victims and used the ransom collected, to bury my late father. We initially demanded N10m because I needed the money to also bury my uncle in Abia state.”
